Istanbul

In the beginning of March I took a trip to Istanbul to visit Burcu. It was very nice to see her after 8 months of being apart. It was not great weather but I had a great time regardless. But that is why we are wearing coats and hats in most of the pictures. Which was weird because there were also palm trees.

We did lots of fun stuff like take a boat to an island in the sea and ride a horse drawn cart to the top of a mountain. I also gave a talk about my work to her students (I'm an international lecturer, btw) and met some great people there. We had a raki table (ruck' - uh) with her friends which is a dinner where you drink a special type of alcohol called raki (pluck the dot off the 'i' for the actual spelling). You eat many different dishes and share them (think family style without the ridiculous portion size.)

Here are some pictures from my amazing trip. Hopefully I'll be heading back there in a few months (after I get my passport renewed. Squeaked this trip in a mere 10 days before it expired!)

Fold-up Box

This is a fold-up box I've been working on that uses magnets to hold it together. It's really satisfying to fold up and break down.
